Fasting is a tradition that has been followed by many people for a long time. However, the benefits of fasting are still not clear and there is no research on whether fasting causes weight loss.

Fasting to lose fat fast

A study has been done recently on a group of people who were doing a 3:2 diet or intermittent fasting, and it was found that these people lost more weight than the control group.

Dry or intermittent fasting, which one helps you lose weight?

When it comes to a weight loss diet, the most commonly debated question is "should I eat or fast?" Eating or fasting for a particular period can help you lose weight.

Dry or intermittent fasting requires you to give up food and only drink water for a set amount of time.

And as these types of diets have been around for centuries, they are considered more natural than others.

But these diets can be difficult to maintain and might not be appropriate for everyone.

Intermittent fasting benefits

What bothers us the most with losing weight is the sagging of the body, and what makes weight lifting in this intermittent fasting an essential partner for reducing calories is that although reducing calories may reduce your weight quickly

it increases the risk of muscle loss; Therefore, you need an adequate amount of protein in your diet, because eating a high proportion of protein can help in losing fat, reducing appetite

maintaining muscle mass, and increasing it if you engage in violent sports daily, and here you can increase the proportion of protein you eat in your day with The amount of muscle you are trying to build.

Disadvantages of intermittent fasting for weight loss

One study found that intermittent fasting may backfire. In it, they found that intermittent fasting may slow down fat loss.

This is because when you are in a state of ketosis, your body is burning fat for fuel instead of glucose.

So when you fast intermittently, it takes your body a little longer to enter into ketosis and start burning fat.

Islamic dry fasting

Very few studies document the effects of dry fasting, over long periods, on large groups of obese people trying to lose weight.

In a German study, published in the journal "Plus One", on the effects of dry fasting for a period between four days to 21 days, 1422 participants were examined, over a whole year

during which they examined the results of fasting every five additional days, in which the participants fasted, and followed a lifestyle Simple so that they do not feel tired with the long hours of fasting, and eat a daily number of calories ranging from two hundred to 250 calories.

Significant reductions in participants' weight, abdominal circumference, and blood pressure were observed in the entire group.

Fasting also lowered blood glucose, and everyone missed out on feeling hungry. Of the 404 participants who had health complaints, 341 reported improvements with fasting, and only 1% reported negative health effects from the diet.

And this study proved that fasting from four days to 21 continuous days is safer for weight loss and improving general health, provided you follow a diet of no more than four hundred calories

but if you choose to follow it instead of intermittent fasting, you will reach the ideal weight faster, but do not look forward to the body. idealism.

Muscle loss is the most common concern among many Muslims who fast. Once you start fasting, your body will instinctively conserve energy to maintain optimal blood sugar levels.

This preservation leads to a decrease in muscle protein synthesis and an increase in muscle breakdown.

Many Muslims who fast also suffer from fatigue, weakness, dizziness, and dehydration.

Severe fasting is harmful

Severe fasting, meaning eating the least amount of food, or relying on nutrition-only fluid intake, has harmful and long-term health effects.

Most of what a person will lose as a result of this will be due to his body losing water and muscle mass, not to losing fat.

The decrease in muscle mass is accompanied by several health damages, such as poor fitness, low efficiency of the body's burning of calories, and an increased chance of disease.

Research has also shown that harsh fasting, which is stopping eating for more than 20 hours, causes a change in the body's mechanics.

It stimulates the start of the body's reaction that makes it follow the approach of starvation, and for the explanation, this includes slow burning of food, reducing its consumption of calories, and preferring to store the majority of it as body fat.

The reason for this is due to the brain's sense of the small amount of food entering the body or its cessation for long periods.

This stimulates the sending of nerve signals that instruct the body to do everything necessary to reduce the speed of metabolism, stop wasting energy and store the largest amount of calories and fat, as a defense to save a life during the famine period.

The longer a person continues to eat fewer calories than he needs, the slower the metabolism and the more fat is stored. In the end, this will cause the weight loss to stop even if the person eats the least amount of food.

The biggest problem appears when a person returns to eating his normal nutrition, as hunger pushes him to eat a large amount of food while his body is still pursuing the method of starvation (reduces the burning of food and stores the largest amount of it).

And it gets worse because the body will continue to store most of the calories as fat, which will double its speed in gaining weight.

Tips for the fasting person who fasts in order to burn fat

It is necessary to understand that this process of burning fat can be a little complicated, but with proper guidance in what to do and what not to do, it can also be easy.

The most important thing for the person who fasts is water intake. Too much or too little water may lead to serious health conditions that are very difficult to control.

Drinking enough water will help the person stay hydrated and increase the rate of metabolism in the body.

Since we know that metabolism has an important role in helping the body burn fat, it’s necessary for people who are fasting to keep their metabolism high and avoid low-calorie diets.
